Greece’s e-Transport System: Key Deadline Changes and What Businesses Need to Know

In a recent joint announcement, Greece’s Ministry of Finance and the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (IAPR) revealed updated timelines for the implementation of the country’s e-Transport system. This digital initiative is important for Greece’s broader myDATA (Digital Accounting and Tax Application) platform which designed to modernize the way tax and inventory data are reported and managed.

1. New Rollout Schedule for e-Transport Obligations

The Greek government has introduced a phased approach for the digital issuance and tracking of transport documents, extending the transition period for various taxpayer groups.

Phase A – Digital Issuance and Submission of Transport Documents

  • Voluntary Until June 1, 2025
Electronic issuance and transmission of transport records will remain optional for companies with annual revenues over €200,000.
  • Entities in sectors such as pharmaceuticals, medical supplies, energy, and construction will also be included regardless of their turnover.
  • Mandatory From June 2, 2025
The above businesses will be obliged to issue and report transport documents digitally through the myDATA platform.
  • Voluntary Until November 30, 2025
All other taxpayers covered by myDATA can voluntarily adopt e-Transport reporting early.
  • Mandatory From December 1, 2025
Digital issuance and submission will become mandatory for all remaining businesses subject to myDATA obligations.

Phase B – Real-Time Digital Tracking of Goods in Transit

  • Voluntary Phase: August 1 to November 30, 2025
Voluntary phase for the digital recording and tracking of inventory movements, including shipments and intra-company transfers.
  • Mandatory From December 1, 2025
All taxpayers under myDATA will be required to fully implement real-time digital tracking for goods transported.

This phased extension offers businesses a valuable buffer to prepare their internal systems, minimize disruption, and ensure proper alignment with technical standards.

The updated timeline for Greece’s e-Transport obligations offers businesses additional time to transition.  With deadlines now set in stone, proactive planning will be key to avoiding disruptions and staying compliant.
